"...You must find time for reading, or surrender yourself to self-chosen ignorance."

Updated: Jan 7, 2020

It’s easy to get lost in the sea of distractions that surround us, but above all else, we should be making more time to read.

By taking the time to read, you are not only increasing your exposure to vocabulary, spelling, grammar and sentence structure, but you are gaining knowledge about culture, society, education, politics, the economy, your peers, and the various fields of study that you might not be familiar with. In order to MASTER the English language, you must READ. . .

👉Here are some tips to encourage you to read more:

✅Keep a daily log and check off each time you read. Collect 5 check marks in a week and reward yourself.

✅Set a timer for 20-minutes and hide your phone. Every time you look at your phone, reset the timer.

✅Choose a topic of interest to start. You’re more likely to read something if you care about it. .

✅Keep a book, magazine, newspaper, or note near your bed. Every time you wake up and go to sleep, you will be reminded to read.

✅Set an alarm or add time into your calendar to read. Treat it like a meeting or class you can’t skip.

✅Find a friend who also wants to read more. Text each other with daily reminders and check-ins to stay motivated.

✅Have fun with it!

Until next time,
